Page 1 of A Boy Is a Gun: Part II
Prologue
It was going to bethe talk of the town for a long time—maybe forever.
Everyone had a version.Everyone swore they knew what happened.
Seven bodies, someone said.
No, twelve.
No, a massacre.
No one knew for sure.
The only thing they agreed on was who was behind it.
They’d been watching him for months, waiting for a mistake that never came.He changed his routes, his patterns, his nights in and out.If they thought he was home, he was gone.If they thought he was gone, he was home.Predictability was a luxury he couldn’t afford.
And it paid off.
Because when the bodies hit the ground, he was nowhere near the scene.
Neither were his people.
Nothing connected.No trace.
The killers were ghosts by sunrise—each one paid, flown out, and warned to keep their mouths shut. The kind of silence that wasn’t bought, butenforced.
It should’ve been perfect.Another clean win in a dirty game.
But even he couldn’t control everything.
He hadn’t planned forher.
Hadn’t planned for the day she’d start seeing someone else—
and bring the man around their daughter.
