Story: Warrior Revealed
“Your weakness?!” Axilla’s eyes widened.
Nadzia
More and more she feared the guards had been instructed to make her disappear.
Think, think, think. She scrambled to come up with some way to escape as they goaded her out of the bustling transit station.
Granted she was bigger and stronger than her normal self. And if I was up against just one bastard, I might have a chance, but against two armed Osivoire I’m totally fucked. She had no clue what her armor could withstand but they wouldn’t be using the hand cannon if they didn’t think it would do the job. It didn’t help that the asshole on the left cavalierly kept his finger poised on the trigger.
So am I going to just let them do God knows what with me?Her heart thundered in her chest, but she refused to let it rule her. No!She screwed up her courage.I’ll wait for an opening, then run.
Except it didn’t seem like that opening would come. Her panic grew as her gaze darted about the crowd filling the street outside the terminal. They’d make it difficult to run very far, and she refused to risk anyone else being shot. They rounded the corner of the commuter station and the bastards tossed a large plain brown cape over her.
What the hell are they doing?
She managed to catch a glimpse of the guard on her right through the folds of fabric and was stunned to see he wasn’t Osivoire at all, but some sort of bird creature.
What the fuck?!They were wearing disguises, too.Oh God, they’re not Sanctuary guards at all.But it was hard to tell if the feathers and beak were the disguise or had it been the Osivoire one. She studied the face that was as convincing as the last one with its menacing expression.Osivoire, birdman, one-eyed, one-horned flying purple people eater, whoever they are I’m fucked.
“You’re not going to get away with this,” she hissed. Aculus would hunt for her no matter who they were.
“And you’re not getting away with what you did on Distraho,” one male countered.
Her brow furrowed in confusion then her eyes widened as she recalled that was the name of the slave auction Aculus destroyed.
Wait, they think I’m Aculus.
Her breath left her and she was certain she was going to puke. Being afraid for her own safety was awful, but the thought of someone hurting Aculus nearly brought her to her knees.
The bastards shoved her toward a waiting cart, and it’s bloated, slimy looking driver.
“Get in!” the thug on her right hissed, gesturing to the back of the wagon.
Over my dead body. She resisted, recalling that it wasn’t wise to let abductors take her to a new location.
“Just dose him before he attracts attention,” the amphibious cart driver croaked low, so only they could hear.
Death might just be what her resistance had earned her.
“Wait!” She struggled as something was sprayed in her face.
Nadzia blinked away the atomized moisture blurring the red lenses covering her eyes, relieved they hadn’t shot her.
“Quick, do it again,” the abductor on her right insisted.
It occurred to her they were trying to knock her out and she pretended to faint before they took more drastic measures.
The armor has to be filtering out the sedative, she thought as they hauled her into the back of the cart. Aculus had explained the artificial shell wasn’t exactly like their natural ones.
“Maneuver the cart, Hibi,” Slimy instructed one of the abductors.
“Yes, Jyk.” The cart started forward.
A meaty, moist hand with oddly long fingers tugged her hoods away. She did her best to remain still, her eyelids barely cracked, as the amphibian called Jyk pointed his comm at her face.
“You imbeciles,” Jyk burbled. “This isn’t the Premiere Servant! Did you even bother to check?” The amphibian shook with anger.
Shit, they figured it out. That didn’t bode well for her.
