Story: The Wolf Prince's Mate
What I had not planned was the kiss, and what I certainly did not expect was the way she melted into it. I expected more fight from her, and frankly, if she had resisted, I would’ve let her go. I might want her to the point of insanity, but I was no asshole. But she surprised me.
She rose to the tip of her toes, arms wrapped around my neck, her soft breast pressed against my chest and opened up to me, our tongues engaged in a dance of passion.
What started out as a soft kiss immediately grew heated, with our hands roaming around each other, breaths mingled, hearts thudding, and teeth and tongues lashing against each other. If she had not pulled away at the time she did, I could not guarantee that I would not rip her clothes off and bend her over the conference table till I was certain I had embedded myself so deep in her she couldn’t forget me even if she tried.
The thought of things I could’ve done to her if the setting were different created a vivid image of her plump ass spread out in front of me, sending a jolt of heat straight to my already painfully hard cock. My phone chose that moment to ring, pulling me out of the moment.
“Hello?” I answered the phone, my voice harsh and tinged with annoyance.
“Good afternoon, my prince. We have an emergency,” Michael’s stressed voice poured out of the phone speaker.
My posture straightened, my boner disappearing with it. “Out with it, Michael.”
“Mira appears to be in danger. The man we asked to trail her just reported her car had been followed by a red SUV from the momentshe pulled out of Dowson Energy, and they’re currently closing in on her.”
My body immediately sprang into action, almost ripping the door off its hinges and speeding down the stairs. “Keep a close eye on them. Whatever you do, don’t lose her and share her location with me.”
I was being careless and at risk of exposing my supernatural powers to onlookers, but all I could think about was Mira and the danger she was in.
Who could possibly want to harm her? I know the corporate world was a dangerous place, but so far, so good. She had yet to make enemies, and everyone she had come across seemed to have only good things to say about her.
Tom,my wolf growled, fighting to be let out. He was twice as angry as I was, and if I let him out, he would do ten times the damage I was capable of. I didn’t think it was Tom. I had looked into the deadbeat. He was too much of a coward to pull this off. Plus, if he wanted to go down this lane, he would’ve done it a long time ago.
I held my wolf in, swerving my car out of the parking lot and speeding down the highway. From a distance, I could hear sirens blaring behind me. It was probably the cops trying to arrest me for the amount of traffic rules I was breaking, but I stepped on my pedal, firing my way to my mate.
I caught a brief glimpse of her car ahead before a red SUV forced her out of the road and into the woods. I gripped my wheels tighter, rage coursing through me like molten lava and clouding my vision with red.
Whoever they were, I was going to make sure they had the most painful deaths, and whoever sent them would spend the rest of their days praying for death to come.
I was out of my car and racing toward the scene, but I was too late. They got to her first. I saw her put up a fight, but she was no match forthe men. As I drew closer, the shocking scent of werewolves hit me. What puzzled me the most was my ability to automatically tap into their mind link right in time to hear one of them say something about a big mess and the princess.
I didn’t have the time to make sense of their conversation with the situation at hand. I grabbed the first one by the shoulders, ripping his trachea from his neck and tossing his lifeless body to the side.
The second one tried to make a run for it, but I pounced on him, tearing his spine from his back. I snarled at the remaining three, daring them to come at me.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see Mira lying in an awkward position on the ground, and I sent a quick prayer to the moon goddess to keep her safe.
The men looked at each other before deciding to come at me at once. I was ready. I was feral, covered in blood, and thirsty for more.
My wolf let out a pained growl when I felt sharp claws sink into my shoulder. I turned to find one of the men behind me. His eyes widened with fear when they met mine, and I drew out my claws, sinking them into his chest and ripping his heart out of his ribcage. The remaining two paled and tried to flee, but I went after them, tearing them apart limb by limb.
When I returned to the scene, I found Victor and a few faces I couldn’t place next to Mira.
Victor rose to his feet the moment he saw me, his eyes blazing with anger. “This is all your fault,” he accused, making his way towards me.
“You’ll step out of my way and let me see my mate. Else, I’ll be delighted to show you the same fate I showed these men.”
He let out a humorless laughter that only fueled my rage. “What I would be more delighted to see would be you explaining to thecops how you got yourself covered in blood and what sort of animal wreaked havoc this huge on five adult men.”
I looked around the woods to see human remains and torn limbs littered all over the place. It didn’t look good for me.
Victor’s lips curled into a smug smile. “You need to go, Griffin. I don’t know how you got to her, but she had my number on speed dial the moment she was hit. I was the one she called and not you.”
My shoulders shook with rage as I tried to hold my wolf down. “Don’t you ever speak to me in that manner.”
“What would you do if I did? Face it, Griffin. She’s not yours anymore. Her life is only getting more complicated with you in it. She went from living a peaceful life to being the target of a hit-and-run in just months of meeting you. You’re no good for her.”
His words stung like a bitch. My wolf fought harder to take control, but the logical part of me couldn’t deny the slice of truth in his words. I was indeed endangering her life.
