Story: The Match

“You think?”

“Want to drop by and prove it?” she challenged.

“Don’t ask me twice, Grace. I’m already in my car.”

“Oh, wow,” she murmured.

“But I know you’re spending the evening with Lais.”

“Oh, that’s right.”

Had she forgotten already?

“But I promise we’ll find the time soon enough,” I added.

“I’m looking forward to that.”

“So am I.”

I decided that I was going to peel off all Grace’s layers—one orgasm at a time.

Chapter Twenty

Grace

“Oh, the perks of being a business owner,” I murmured on Tuesday evening when I was once again cooped up in my office all by myself. It was seven o’clock, and I still had quite a few tasks left. When my phone beeped, I thought it might be my assistant shooting me yet another to-do. But my entire body was immediately set aflame when I noticed the sender.

Zachary: Workday over?

Grace: I wish. Looks like this is going to be a dinner-at-the-office kind of week.

Zachary: What a coincidence. Same for me. It’s another crisis week, but I don’t mind. What are you having for dinner?

Grace: I haven’t decided yet. Maybe some gumbo. It’s my comfort dish.

Zachary: LeBlanc & Broussard has an excellent one. I can have it delivered to you.

My eyes bulged, and then a rush of warmth came over me. It was completely unexplainable.

Grace: I’d love that.

Zachary: Then consider it done.

Grace: How can I repay you?

Zachary: I have a few things in mind. I’ll tell you when I see you in person.

I expected Zachary to text me back. When he didn’t, I remembered that he’d said he had a lot to do as well. Yet he was taking the time to order me dinner. I was liking this man more and more every day.

As I opened up the spreadsheet I was currently working on, my phone lit up again and vibrated. I answered without checking the caller.

“Hey.”

“Hi, Grace. Am I disturbing you?”

“Oh, hi, Gaston.” I’d been certain it was Zachary.Thank God I didn’t answer in a flirty way.

“Hi. Listen, I know I promised to call last week, but we’ve had a lot of work to do with Starlight.”
