Story: The Deceit
It’s a bloody massacre.Blood smears the polished floors, and shell casings glint under the light—a horrifying reminder of the chaos that unfolded.
I struggle harder, but they shove me forward. We’re halfway across the garden when I see it. The helicopter they all had come in descends lower and lands in the garden, its blades still spinning, waiting to carry us away.
They’re taking us.
I glance around, searching for Veer. The other assailant holds him tightly behind me. Veer’s tiny arms reach out, his tear-streaked face filled in terror.
“DAADU!” he wails, his cry cutting through my heart.
I grit my teeth, trying to remain strong for him, but deep down, I know exactly what this is…
This isn’t just an attack. It’s an abduction.
We’re only steps away from the helicopter when I hear the roar of an engine amid the chaos. Tyres screech against the pavement, and in the next instant, the gates burst open, and a black SUV crashes through, heading straight towards us.
He’s here.
The door flings open, and Vishnu jumps out of his car, fury burning in his eyes and a gun poised in his hand.
Behind him, his men pour out of the vehicle, weapons raised, already firing.
Hope surges through me as chaos erupts anew.
My son, my warrior, has come for us.
VISHNU
I burst through the farmhouse gates, tyres screeching against the cobbled stones. The journey here was pure hell. On our way back to the farmhouse to save Dad, masked assailants shot at our tyres, flipping our car. We were pinned down, but Alex and the others kept us alive with relentless covering fire while I took down their men one by one. We commandeered their vehicle and barely made it here, but nothing—nothing could have prepared me for this sight.
My blood turns to ice. Dad is being dragged like a petty criminal by two masked attackers, their grip tight as they haul him towards a helicopter waiting a few meters away. Veer’s terrified cries cut through the air, his tiny frame trembling in another assailant’s arms.
My eyes take in the scene. It’s a graveyard of chaos and death. My security team, the men I trusted with my family’s lives, are all scattered across the garden like broken dolls. Some lie motionless, others moan in pain, clutching their wounds.
My vision blurs with fury. My Dad, my son. Zayed is taking them. The car hasn’t even stopped, but I throw the door open and jump out to save them. The moment my boots hit the ground, I don’t stop. My body is running on sheer adrenaline as I sprint forward, my men flanking me.
“Dad!” The word tears from my throat as rage explodes in my chest.
Gunfire erupts around us. My men open fire, but I scream, “CAREFUL! Watch your shots!”
My own gun trembles in my grip, desperate to fire, to kill, but I hold back. One wrong shot and—
No. I can’t risk it. I won’t.
Hope flashes across Dad’s face as he sees me. Bullets rip through the air, whizzing past us. My men take down two assailants covering the escape. One drops instantly, and the other staggers back, clutching his chest. But the ones holding Dad and Veer don’t stop. They move faster now, dragging them toward the waiting helicopter.
Dad struggles against his captors, putting up a fight despite his age. One of the assailants punches him hard in the stomach. He gasps, doubling over in pain.
“BAST*RD!” I roar, my entire being vibrating with fury. “I’LL KILL YOU!” I roar again, charging forward at full speed.
My men’s precise shooting takes down one of the men holding Dad. Another bullet hits the thigh of the man clutching Veer. He stumbles, his grip on my son faltering. Veer’s cries slice through the chaos, tearing at my soul. The helicopter looms ahead of them, its blades stirring the air, whipping up a storm of dust.
I push forward with everything I’ve got. I reach the man, and in one swift, brutal motion, I rip Veer from his arms. He lunges at me, but I turn quickly, crushing his wrist in my grip before driving a bullet straight into his skull. He drops instantly.
“Alex, take him!” I bark, shoving Veer into his arms. “Protect my son!”
Alex nods, securing Veer safely. I spin and sprint toward Dad, but the distance feels endless. The remaining assailant is dragging him toward the helicopter’s doors, which open, ready to swallow him whole.
“DAD!”
