“I’m sorry, what?” My voice is high and tight and it’s a little difficult to breathe.

“Marry me,” his words are strong and sure as if he’s about to battle me if I even consider turning him down.

“You want to marry me?”

His strong hands grip me as he pulls me across the blanket and into his lap. “I told you that I would get my ring on your finger and then, one day, we’ll grow our family.”

“Are you sure?” I can’t seem to help myself as I blurt the question.

Hux’s laugh is rich as it washes over me. “I’m more than sure,” he assures me. “I’ve been trying to take things slowly. I would have married you months ago, but I knew you needed more time. I have the ring upstairs in one of my drawers waiting for you to say yes.”

“Marriage, huh?”

“Yeah, Sunshine,” he wiggles his eyebrows at me, “marriage.”

“Then babies?”

He throws his head back and laughs. I’m mesmerized by the sight.

“Whenever you’re ready, you tell me and I’ll put as many babies inside of you as you want,” his voice is husky and filled with need.

My fingers run along the shorter hair at the back of his neck as I pull him closer. When our lips meet, we got lost in the love that is shared between us. I hope he can feel the love I have for him in my kiss because I can taste it on his tongue.

He murmurs against my lips, “Is that a yes?”

“Of course I’ll marry you, Hux.”

He pumps his fist before he rolls me underneath him. The day, as shitty as it was, feels much farther away now. And it’s all because of my man.

He holds my heart, which is wonderful. But even more importantly, I trust him with it.
