Story: Shadow of the Forsaken

Yes. I wanted it. I wanted everything he promised and more. And he'd accepted the wolf and still wanted me, so there was nothing holding us back any longer …

I licked my lips. "I suppose that means I should start running …"

His yellow-gold eyes flared, and I could seehis heart thrumming faster in his neck as he stalked towards me — muscles rippling with every step.

The ache in my lower belly grew heavier — anticipation fanning the flames of desire.

"Yes, Witch," he said, kicking the water bucket to douse the fire.

Plunged in darkness, his yellow-gold eyes glowed. "You have sixty seconds before I chase you … then you'll never get away from me again."

"RUN!"

Fear and excitement surged through me as I turned on my heel and dashed out the little cabin.

Only sixty seconds!

I could feel Tye's fiery gaze on my back, hunger burning deep in those yellow-gold eyes.

It matched the hunger gnawing a pit in my belly — desperate to escape — desperate to be found.

And once he caught me …

Yes. I was done pretending. I wanted this — wantedhim. To fight him — to fuck him —

All of him.

The gentle side that tended my wounds, fixed things, and refused to let me go hungry. The possessive side that called me his, growled whenever I was threatened, and would chase me to the ends of the world.

I didn't know where the future would take us, but it didn't matter. Not tonight. Not now.

I searched the surrounding forest for a place to hide.

Darkness cloaked the tall trees like a blanket. A mountain and ocean loomed on either side of the road. Something about the mountain called to me — a cave we'd passed on our way here …

Could I make it there before he found me?

A thrill ran through me at the thought.

Heart in my throat, and desire coursing through my veins, I broke into a run.

Fifty seconds.

The night air cooled my burning cheeks, and I pushed my legs to move faster, feeling just how far that cave was and how little of a head start I had.

No time for those thoughts!

I focused on the narrow forest path ahead, struggling to ignore the heady feel of him through the bond, somewhere behind and counting down the seconds until he would give chase.

Thirty seconds.

What would happen when he caught me? Would he talk dirty like Jaiel?

No. Tye's tastes were more primal than that …
