Everyone has always believed Tivek to be an academy washout, a cadet who was given the consolation prize of being the academy master’s adjunct. Human cadet Morgan has always found the enigmatic Drexian mysterious and intriguing, and she’s always believed there was more to him.
When she catches him sending a secret transmission during a mission, she’s shocked to learn that he isn’t who everyone believes him to be. Tivek is part of a fifth school in the academy, but it’s one that no one knows about, no one can decide to join. The Shadows are the covert espionage school steeped in secrecy and whispers, and you can only become a Shadow by being recruited.
Morgan agrees to keep Tivek’s secret. But as they get deeper into the mission, it becomes harder to hide the truth and harder to resist the pull of the gorgeous spy–and of The Shadows themselves. Will keeping Tivek’s secrets be the answer she’s been searching for, or will it cost Morgan everything?
