Page 107 of Run, Little Rabbit
My phone buzzes in my pocket, and I see a message from Veon.
Veon:
Don’t doubt yourself, Echo. Take that fucker down.
I snort, and that feeling of self-belief burrows a little deeper.
I’ve got this.
My phone buzzes again.
Conor:
We’re here
And my stomach drops again. Fuck. This is it.
I shake my hands, crack my neck, and jump on the spot a few times to shake off the jitters. After that, I fix the guys with a firm stare. “I need you to give me some time alone with my dad.”
“No,” Max scoffs. “Absolutely not.”
“Ten minutes, that’s all I’m asking for. And if bullets start firing, you can run in and save the day.” Sounds like a reasonable request to my ears.
Three pairs of eyes give me an incredibly flat look.
“I just want to talk to him, and if he sees I’m with you, I won’t get that chance.”
I can see Max mulling it over, his eyes tracking the lines of my face. He’s ditched his normal attire of the tailored three-piece and is decked out in black combat gear. It clings to his frame, showing every muscle and ridge of his physique. He’s also swapped his expensive Italian loafers for a pair of boots, and if I thought Max in a suit was hot, in this lethal get-up, he’s fuckingdevastating.
“Okay. Then here’s what we will do.” Max crosses his arms across his chest, and the long sleeves pull tighter over his arms. Jesus, the material looks ready to split open. “Pet, focus.”
Heat blossoms across my cheeks, and my attention snaps straight to Max. “Sorry.”
I catch Niki smirking, and he swipes his thumb across his chin.“You’ve got a little drool there, Rabbit.”
Angel laughs when I give him the finger, but when he clocks the death stare Max is giving him, it turns into a stilted cough.
“The three of us will wait out of sight, but I want a clear view of the area so I can keep an eye on things and assess the situation as it evolves.” Max turns to Niki. “You will set up on the south side. Stay low and stay hidden.”
Niki rolls his eyes. “Sure thing, Boss.”
Max wraps a hand around the back of Angel’s neck and sinks his fingers into the curls at the base of his skull. “Angel, can you get behind the north ruins? That will hopefully put you close enough to Echo if we need to intervene quickly.”
“Of course, Maxim. Consider it done.” Angel leans forward and presses a kiss against Max’s lips. A kiss that quickly turns filthy. Max slides his tongue into Angel’s mouth like it belongs there and licks the roof of his mouth. I can see the smirk tugging at the corner of Max’s mouth, and I know he’s doing this for me.
I'm not sure where these guys learnt theirdistraction techniques, but I'm here for them.
Niki watches me watching Max and Angel, but I can’t pull away from the vision of the kiss. When Max finally pulls the kiss to a stop, my breath is coming in short pants, and I’m pretty sure my pants are soaked.
Niki steps in front of me, his eyes bright and the colour of the Mediterranean Sea.“When this is over, I want to show you my viewing room. I want to see if I can make you cum just by watching them and knowing that I’m watching every blush and flutter of breath that passes your lips.”
Fuck. Me.
That shouldn’t be hot. Should it?
But my pussy clenches at the thought.
“Let’s table that for later, shall we?” Max says, a smug little grin on his face.
