Page 80 of Redemption of a Prince
“It’s a quote fromLand of the Moons. When Sofós Voskós tells Charlotte that she’s going to be the first queen of Trilunium, he says that to her.”
“‘You were created for more. You were brought to this time, to this place, for this destiny. This is your calling.’” She looked at a him with tears in her eyes. “Even back then, you believed that?”
He took the canvas from her and set it on the table next to the one she’d made for him. “Back then, I believed that you’d been designed for more than you believed. That there was more waiting out there for you than you could imagine. I know stepping down from the Trilunium project wasn’t ideal, but you’ve definitely left your mark on that project.”
Brushing the hair off her forehead, he gave her a gentle kiss. “Your influence will be felt throughout the resort when it’s completed. That would have been plenty and amazing. I didn’t know I’d be king or that you’d be queen. Now that you are, it’s even more true. You were created to be the queen of New Sargasso. To help me be a good and wise king and to put me in my place when I need it. You were created for more.”
He kissed her again, and this time didn’t stop. Sometime later, they lay together in their new room, Nikki’s head on his chest.
“He’s redeemed both of us,” he told his wife, kissing the spot where her forehead and hair met. “And so much of our past.”
“He did,” Nikki confirmed with a yawn.
She kissed him. A moment later, she’d fallen asleep.
Zeke watched her as she slept. His birthright had been restored to him, but more importantly, the love of his life had come back into his life.
In the restoration of their relationship had also come the redemption of a prince.
At peace with himself and the world, Zeke closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.
Redeemed.
