Chapter 9
Brynn
“Ican’tbelieveyou’regetting married in under two hours.” I help Lexi slide on her garter to just above her knee. Hadley and I had surprised her with it at her bridal shower—a gorgeous purple-and-white lace with her new last name, Harrington, in silver cursive. I can’t wait for Ben to see it.
“Right? I think it’s finally starting to set in.” Lexi adjusts her silk robe and twists back to face forward in her chair in front of the vanity.
Lexi is the exception to the rule on brides on their wedding day—she hasn’t freaked out or shown any signs of nerves.
“And you’re sure that I don’t need to go get the getaway car so we can haul ass out of here,” Hadley jokes as she adjusts Lexi’s veil.
“Nope,” she says with a loud pop of thep. “I tried to be away from him once before, and that didn’t turn out so well,” she laughs softly. Ben and Lexi broke up once, but when two people are meant to be together, nothing, not even lying, cheating asshole ex-boyfriends, can keep you apart. “I’m ready to be Mrs. Bentley Harrington.”
There are no words for the smile on her face—it’s clear she’s so in love.
“You all set? I need to slip out and meet Callum.”
I seriously can’t believe that I had left my necklace at home, but I’m thankful I caught Callum just in time before he left. I would have felt so bad if I had missed him. Lexi had bought Hadley and me each one to match our dresses, mine royal blue and Hadley’s bright green.
Slowly, both girls twist with smirks. “All good here,” Lexi giggles.
“You go get your man, girl,” Hadley cheers. I roll my eyes. “What? I’m just saying. I plan on attacking Asher later. Phone sex just didn’t cut it last night.”
“Oh my God, gross! That’s my brother-in-law, Had,” Lexi shouts. “Please don’t make me puke on my wedding day.”
“Don’t get your panties in a bunch. I’ll be right back,” I huff.
“And don’t you take your panties off.”
“Ignore her, Brynn. Take your time.” Even though Lexi is trying to be the voice of reason here, I can hear the teasing in her voice. “When you get back, we’ll get my dress on.”
I pull up my text chat with Callum as I leave the bridal suite.
Me:Where are you?
Callum:Sitting naked in a bean bag chair eating Cheetos.
Me:*Jensen Ackles not cool gif*
Even though I send a response as if I’m not laughing, a giggle leaves my lips at his Ron White reference.
Me:Plus, I know you don’t like Cheetos.
Me:I’m on a time crunch. You know, a wedding happening today and all.
Callum:There is? Who’s getting married?
Ughh, this man is so infuriating.
Me:Callum! I’m serious!
Callum:So am I.
Me:You know what, never mind.
Callum:I’m sorry, it’s just too easy. We’re in the bar at the main building.
Me:I’m on my way!
