Story: Love Like This
“Would be wrong to not find out.”
She pushed Hadley’s top up and ran her nails across her smoothskin before freeing her of it altogether. Hadley nodded and bit her lower lip.Spencer shoved her bra up over her breasts so she could see them. The jeanscame down past her knees. Those fantastic heels? They stayed on. Spencer didn’tdelay. She knew what she was after, and pushed inside, overcome by how wetHadley already was, how ready. She began to move, her hips propelling her hand.
Hadley moaned and turned her head to the side. “More.”
“Yeah?”
“Definitely.”
Spencer obliged and drove more firmly, pulling sounds she hadn’theard before from Hadley. God, it inspired her own arousal in ways she couldn’thave fathomed. She kissed Hadley’s bare stomach and licked her way down to herthighs which parted further, asking for more attention. Hadley said her nameover and over as Spencer pushed into her. Her hair pooled beautifully aroundher face as Spencer drove harder, circling her most sensitive spot with herthumb, watching Hadley’s face, reading her cues until she gasped and gave in tothe climax, shuddering and bowing. She cried loudly, her hips still movingfeverishly against Spencer’s hand. Spencer reached up and cupped Hadley’sbreast hard as she rode out the final waves in glorious sharp thrusts.
“Are we still here?” Hadley asked, limp and smiling and so hot inthose heels.
“I think so, but I’m not entirely sure.” Spencer crawled up therug until she lay alongside Hadley, breathless and feeling satisfied.
Hadley’s eyes went wide. “Oh, no. Do you think Mr. Wanna-somethingheard me?”
“I’m going to go with most definitely.”
Hadley covered her mouth. “I was loud.”
“You were wonderful and fucking hot as sin. We have to have floorsex more often if it’s always like that.”
“Don’t say it like it’s over,” Hadley said. “Floor sex is merelyon break.” She slipped a hand between Spencer’s legs and squeezed gently.
She resisted the urge to come right then and there through herjeans. She was already that close.
“Lucky for you we have all night.”
Spencer smiled at Hadley, flushed, beautiful and nearly naked. Sheremoved her remaining pieces of clothing, kissing her in between. “The bed’sjust around the corner, you know.”
Hadley unbuttoned Spencer’s pants.
“Oh. We’re not making it off this floor, are we?”
Hadley grinned. “Not a chance.”
After they were exhausted, fulfilled, and wrapped naked togetherin a blanket from the nearby couch, Spencer drifted off to the most wonderfuldream. They were strolling hand in hand through an endless meadow. Hadleystopped to pick a flower and smiled up at Spencer, so full of life and kindnessthat Spencer’s heart was set to burst. “Have I told you today how much I loveyou?” Spencer asked.
Hadley looked to the sky in contemplation. “Why don’t you tell meagain just in case.”
“I love you, Had.” She kissed her cheek and met her gaze. “So damnmuch.”
Chapter Twelve
Spencer was late.
She’d worked in her apartment until the last possible second, getting caught up in her latest creative surge and sketching each image like amaniac as it appeared to her before realizing distantly that, damn it, she hada lunch date with Dez and that overseas contact he wanted to put her in touchwith. She’d forgotten all about it and now she was behind the power curve. Shehad just enough time to make it once she threw on appropriategoing-out-in-public clothes, then floored it the whole way there. Now thatthings felt like they were in a better place with Hadley, she could try andfocus on business. Yet playing catch-up had screwed her this time.
She made it to Redbird for lunch to find Dez and the woman alreadyseated and having drinks. She took a moment in the entryway to catch her breathand find her “this is for business” smile. “Hello, everyone. I hope I’m not toolate,” she said, accepting a kiss on the cheek from Dez when she arrived at thetable.
“Not at all,” he said. “We were early. Spencer Adair, meetClaudette Fournier.”
She turned to the woman with a smile in the same moment that thename registered. Not possible. Claudette Fournier was second in command atBertrand, the French label people couldn’t get enough of lately. They were juststarting to make waves in America, but she followed the trades, and they’dtaken Europe by storm in just a short time. Bertrand shows were packed.Impossible to get tickets to. Surely, this was nottheClaudette Fournier. She studied her.Dark hair pulled back into a sophisticated bun, makeup done to perfection, anda killer Bertrand pantsuit. All signs pointed to yes.
“Pleased to meet you,” Claudette said with, yes, a subtle Frenchaccent. “Desmond has shared a great deal about you. I know your work and feelas if I already know you somewhat.”
“You’re very kind,” Spencer said, taking her seat. She sent Dez awhat-the-hell look that he either ignored or didn’t see.
