It had been almost a week.
And that stubborn woman still hadn’t come home.
“This damn girl...” he muttered through gritted teeth, leaning back in his chair, dragging a hand down his face. “Where the hell is she?”
Just then, the door opened.
Xander stepped in and approached his desk, boots thudding lightly against the hardwood.
Lorenzo straightened in his chair, sharp eyes locking on him. “What is it?”
“We found her, Mr. Moretti. Doctor Astra. Couldn’t make direct contact, but I tracked the car she’s been using. She’ll be traveling down Roosevelt Road in an hour.”
Lorenzo stood immediately, his face turning to stone. “Let’s go.”
Without another word, he and Xander walked out, heading straight to the car.
Moments later, they were on the streets of Manhattan, the city lights casting sharp glows on Lorenzo’s tensed face.
Chapter 3 Silence
Darren sat behind the wheel, glancing sideways at Krystal. “Isn’t Mr. Cage a doctor himself? Why’s he calling you for help? I mean, isn’t his family one of the richest in the country or something?”
Krystal leaned back with her eyes closed. “He is a doctor. But most people don’t know that, and he likes it that way. He rarely performs surgeries—especially not high-profile ones.”
Her voice was calm, but there was an edge to it.
“With someone this important, they'd want to know exactly who's operating. Dig into their profile and background. Damion wants to avoid that mess.”
Darren nodded, muttering under his breath, “Must be someone real important if he’s trying that hard to keep it quiet…”
Suddenly, a black SUV swerved in front of them, cutting them off.
Krystal’s eyes flew open. “Watch out!”
Darren gasped and yanked the wheel hard, jerking the car to the side and slamming the brakes. The car jolted to a stop, tires screeching.
“What the hell?” he barked, ripping off his seatbelt. “Is this guy out of his mind?! He nearly killed us!”
In front of them, the SUV blocked the road, clearly intentional.
Krystal’s heart pounded. She stared at the car blocking their way—a matte black Maserati Quattroporte with tinted windows.
“These lunatics think they’re in a Fast & Furious movie?” she snapped, unbuckling her seatbelt and reaching for the door. “Let’s teach them how to drive before they kill someone.”
But the moment she opened the door and looked up—
Her blood ran cold.
A tall, familiar, broad-shouldered figure climbed out of the other car.
Her body stiffened.
Her heart dropped.
Her eyes widened.
Lorenzo.
