I didn’t have an answer. I couldn’t until Luke knew. This wasn’t exactly how I planned on telling him, but it would have to do.

“Do you think we could do it with a baby in tow?” I asked with a smile I was sure would break my face in two.

“I… well… um… a baby?” His eyes widened, mouth parted. “Are you sure? A baby? Our baby?”

“Who else’s?” I laughed.

“Alex.” His eyes softened as his hands rounded to my stomach and gazed down. His voice was barely above a whisper when he spoke. “We’re going to have a baby.”

I nodded as I swallowed the lump in my throat. After we decided to try, I cancelled my appointment at the doctor’s office to get my shot. We were told that it might take me up to a year to get my period back and at least eighteen months to get pregnant.

He gazed up at me in wonder. “I thought it would take at least a year for you to get pregnant.”

Warmth radiated throughout my entire body as I took in the smile on his face. His eyes glittered with happiness and I knew mine reflected the same. This time would be different. This time was already different than the last. We cried from happiness, not from sadness at being stuck with each other for the rest of our lives.

“I love you so much.” Luke repeated over and over again as he peppered kisses all over my face.

Tears streaked down my cheeks. “I love you too.” A sob broke out. “We made a baby.”

“It only took two months for you to get pregnant. It’s a miracle.”

“Thank you for giving me this.”

His brows furrowed. “When are you due?”

“I don’t know. I have an appointment with my doctor when we get back.” I tried to do the math in my head but wasn’t sure if I was right or not. “My guess is sometime the beginning of May.”

“I know you’re an amazing woman and mother, but do you really think you’ll want to uproot your life and live in Canada for three months right after you have a baby? I won’t be around to help you like I want to.”

Wrapping my arms around his shoulders, I rested my forehead to his. “I hate to be the reason you turn it down.”

“There will be other movie roles, and if not then I’m okay with that, but I’m not okay with missing out on my child growing up. I haven’t missed one of Mason’s soccer games, a sleepover, or a skinned knee since I came into his life. I’m not going to start missing all the important stuff now, and I promised you that I’d be there to help you.” He brushed his lips to mine before resting our foreheads together. I stared into his cerulean eyes that shined with happiness. “I can’t do that being on set for fourteen-hour days. This is the right decision for us.”

My heart melted with all the love I had for him. Each day I fell more and more in love. Luke Sandström was the perfect husband and father, who just proved it in spades.

“I love you more than words can ever express. I’m going to do everything in my power to show you each and every day.”

He cupped the side of my neck, eyes full of adoration. “You already do.” Our lips met in a soft brush. I kissed the corners of his mouth before nibbling on his bottom lip.

Lying me down on the couch, Luke rested to the side of me with one leg thrown over mine. Lifting the edge of my shirt up until it reached my breast that had already started to grow in size, he placed soft kisses over my still flat stomach. I couldn’t wait to see it pop out with proof of our baby.

Looking down at me with his hand rubbing circles across my belly a tear slipped from his eye. “Thank you for giving me this. For giving me you and Mason, and your love.”

“What else could I give you? You’ve already given me a fairytale life and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next chapter in our lives.”
