Story: Hearts Like Hers
Hadley stood immediately. “Twins? There aregoing to be two? No! That can’t be right.”
“Yes!” Autumn laughed. “It’s not what I hadplanned on, but I will quote my wife and say ‘the more the merrier.’”
Herwife.Autumn never got tired of that term. After gathering a milliondifferent brochures to plan the picture-perfect wedding, Autumn had come torealize that elaborate wasn’t what she wanted at all. It’s what Vicky wouldhave wanted or Olivia or a million other women out there. There was nothingwrong with a big ceremony, but for Autumn, the most important part was the dayafter the wedding. And the days after that.
They’d stood before a justice of the peacetwo months prior and promised to love, honor, and cherish each other as theirclosest friends and family looked on. Vicky had been there and, lo and behold, behaved herself. Kate’s brother Randy and his wife had also attended, bringingextra added joy for Kate, who even received an unexpected call from SantaBarbara in which Eva and Ren had excitedly congratulated her. The group had allgone out for a fancy dinner afterward, and when it was all said and done,Autumn Primm was a married woman. With a family on the way.
She looked around the shop, the businessshe’d started from the ground up, and at the excited faces of her three bestfriends as they hugged and covered their mouths in happy disbelief. She tookstock of how lucky she was that Kate had rented the very apartment that shehad, and that they had fallen into each other’s paths.
Maybe there was a plan for everything.
Maybe the stars watched over us all.
Autumn knew one thing for sure: she couldn’twait to see what they had in store next.
