Story: Fawn
But I want my turn. I need to know that she wants me too, that I’m not seen as Eiden’s lover and nothing more.
So I will give Seven tonight; tomorrow, I’m determined to find out if she truly accepts me.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Fawn
We return to our quarters, where the lamps have already been lit. It is empty except for Blue, who, hearing my arrival, approaches me for a fuss before padding out to the balcony and flopping down on the cool stone floor to nap again.
What to do with the book…
Thankfully, Eiden leaves, saying he will check on Seven and Jude’s whereabouts. But it’s not like I have anywhere to put personal things. If I’m honest, none of this feels real yet, like I’m a visitor in someone else’s home.
When will that change?
With the storybook in my hand, I wander into the closet to find a place to put it. I have a bad feeling that Nox is suspicious. He is not sweet like Eiden, nor virtuous like Seven. If he found the book, he would use it to his advantage… which makes me feel a little flustered and hot.
“Damn it! Where am I supposed to hide it?”
The silk robe I wore earlier catches my eye. I wrap the book in it and tuck it in at the bottom—hopefully, nobody will see it. Perhaps tomorrow, after I’ve let my doe play, I can have a read.
When I leave the room, I nearly collide with Seven. My breath catches, and then my heart races. Did he see what I did?
He steps up to me, slides his fingers into my hair at the nape of my neck, and kisses the top of my head.
Now my heart is thumping for other reasons than my secret book…
“How was your day?” he asks. “I hope my sisters behaved themselves.”
“Oh yes,” I say. My smile is bright and genuine, although I’m aware of his fingers still settled at the back of my neck, the soothing movement of his thumb against my skin. “Your sisters are lovely.”
“My sisters are high maintenance,” he says dryly, “but I love them well. I’m glad that you had a nice time.”
He releases me and steps back. “Jude is in the lounge. I’m sure he has missed you today.”
I do want to see Wolf, and I’ve missed him too. But I also feel a little nervous about tonight and what Seven said earlier about sleeping in his own bed. That he should like Wolf to be there… with me. “Would it be alright if I had a bath first?”
“Of course,” he says. “You don’t need to ask my permission, Fawn. These are your quarters now. Would you like Eiden to join you?”
I shake my head. Although I probably would like Eiden to join me. “Not tonight.”
He brushes my hair behind my ear and smiles. “I find your human ears adorable.”
His words, touch, and smile, disarm me.
“I always thought they looked very ordinary. I wanted to have ears like my mama.”
“Well, I like your ears just the way they are.” He steps back. “They are part of what makes you unique. Come out when you’re ready,” he says, then turns and leaves the bedroom.
The low rumble of voices soon emanates from the lounge.
I imagine Wolf out there, perhaps on the couch, like he was earlier when Seven pleasured me…
I smile and head for the bathing room, where I make use of the scented soaps. The arousal that plays a constant part in my new life, rises with every passing moment as I sink into the warm pool. The bathing room is dark, save for a few lamps, which creates a sense of intimacy.
But I don’t linger. Time to see what Seven has in mind.
I dry off on a fluffy towel before padding through to the robe area, where I shift through the rack of clothes. Arousal is pulsing through me. My thoughts linger on what is to come.
