Sure enough, when they had retrieved the body, a useless copper coin was found tucked away in his pocket. The uninitiated would have thought it but a simple oddity, but the few remaining veterans knew what that signified.

Will was on the warpath, it seemed. Old grievances died hard. The boss chuckled to himself. If Will had only continued to stay holed up wherever he had disappeared to, things would remain simple. Now that he had raised his hand at him, however, he couldn’t be left alone.

He snapped a finger.

“Yes, boss!” a man answered at once, standing at attention.

“Get me, Wes.”

He didn’t have to wait long. Within minutes, the man called Wes was standing before him.

“You called, boss?”

“Mm. I want you to find someone for me. I should warn you; I’m essentially sending you to find a needle in a haystack. But I know you’re up to it.”

“Consider it done, boss. Name the lucky guy.”

The boss chuckled. He was amused at this turn of events. It seemed Cerberus and Charon might meet again sooner than expected.

“Oh, he’s an old friend of mine,” he drawled. “Be sure to treat him well for my sake when you meet. I’ll want to see him alive and well.”
