“I would love to! Yes!” I squeal, jumping up and pulling her in for a kiss. She dips me, our lips lingering as my parents and Kelly howl in excitement—along with the small crowd of people that’s accumulated.
She pops open the box with the ring and shows me a light pink, oval-shaped diamond ring with a silver band. It’s exquisite. Breathtaking. Entirely me and exactly what I want on my hand until the end of time. I beam, Kenzie takes the ring from the box and places it on my ring finger.
“I love you.” I smile, gazing at the ring and then back at Kenzie.
“I love you, too.” We kiss again, this time longer and more intimately.
“These are for you.” She pulls away and hands me a bouquet of pink roses. Then she bends down to grab the bottle of champagne, pops it, and my family runs over with empty flutes.
“Congratulations!” my mom and dad say in unison. My sister takes my hand and gushes at the ring. There’s what seems like a bunch of never-ending hugs from everyone.
I can’t believe I’m engaged to the woman I love. It seems as if she pulled it off effortlessly, too. She holds me as we look at the beautiful pink and orange sunset in front of us. She orchestrated this entire ordeal to happen at the perfect moment; the waves crash against the shore, and the sun is swallowed by the horizon. It’s something I’ll try to remember for the rest of our lives.
“Barbie, I love you,” Kenzie says, holding my hand and gazing at the ring.
“Don’t you worry, had I known you were planning this I would’ve brought yours,” I say with a wink.
“What?” She looks at me with wide eyes.
“Your proposal is coming baby, just you wait.” I smile. “I can’t have my model fiancée walking around without a ring, now can I?” I ask with a smirk.
“I guess you can’t.” She laughs.
I know exactly how I’m going to ask her. I just have to sneak her away to the place where we first met without her realizing.
