Story: Cove City: Vol. I
Zeus came closer to me, “Aye Zu, chill. Fuck that goofy nigga we’re not here for that.”
“Goofy like your mama!” I snapped.
Zeus’ jaws clenched while my hand eased behind my back. My eyes landed on Sasha.
“Don’t look at her. She’s good my nigga very fuckin good. So—”
I snapped. I whipped out, aimed, and shot.
Bloaw! Bloaw!
Chaos ensued, and bullets started flying.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
Bloaw! Bloaw!
I fell back onto the ground, still shooting. “Bitch ass niggas!” I spotted Quinton pulling his gun out, shooting as well.
“Ahhh!” Someone screamed.
I didn’t know who the fuck I hit until I heard her screams. My heartbeat picked up because I couldn’t believe I let my emotions get the best of me.
Iwant that fuck nigga’s head!” I roared as I paced back and forth.
When Pierre pulled out his gun, the first thing that popped into my head was getting Freckles out of there. I rushed toward her, pushing her off her bike while a shootout occurred. The sound of a woman’s piercing screams overshadowed the shooting. Chevy and I rushed over to her while Preach called the ambulance.
“You’re going to be good, Shorty,” Chevy told her. “What’s your name?”
Her heavy breathing outweighed her words. I watched as Pierre stood coming over toward us.
“Get out of here Zu, take Freckles and the niggas back to the crib,” Chevy instructed. “I’m going to wait here.”
Chevy and his heroic ways. I backpedaled toward my bike, watching Pierre move his way through the havoc. I should haveshot his bitch ass, but someone was already down, someone who’d got caught in the crossfire.
I helped Freckles on her bike, then hopped on mine.
We’d all taken off, but I was boiling inside. “See why I said that nigga got to die? Huh?” I said to Freckles in the helmet.
The sound of Diamond came in, “Freckles, you better get Lurch. Bitch ass nigga shooting at us.”
“I-I’m sorry.”
“And another thing. Sono, oh that nigga I’m slicing his shit open,” Foe blurted out.
“You gone turn his ass into a chopped cheese?” Diamond joked.
“Like a nigga in a bodega.”
The sound of Freckles panting was loud. I wanted to give her a chance to handle shit, but it was clear Pierre was out of control. The nigga reminded me of Diamond’s little stalker Mo. However, now I wanted to know why Pierre and Freckles broke up. I wanted to know everything because something told me they had a different type of bond. Something that connected them in a way he couldn’t shake.
Freckles’ voice came in through the helmets. “I’m going home.” She said as she made a right at the light.
The fuck?I didn’t even bother to tell the guys I would get up with them later. Instead, I followed behind her. There was no need to have a conversation in the helmets because the shit I needed answers to I wanted to look into her eyes. When she pulled up to her crib, I was right behind her. She got off her bike, removed her helmet, and turned toward me. “Zeus, you didn’t have to follow me.”
“Sasha who the fuck you think I am? Clearly, you don’t see me as your man.”
“I’m just trying to get my thoughts together.”
