Page 58 of Arcane Entanglement
“I said I want you, Evander,” Viggo repeated. He tipped his head to the side. “I take it you know what that means.”
Evander swallowed and licked his lips. Even if he didn’t, the Brute’s expression made it all too clear what it was he craved.
Viggo took a step towards him.
Evander backed away, unable to stop himself.
It was the instinct of prey in the presence of a predator.
Viggo’s face took on a wolfish appearance. He closed the distance to Evander even as he continued retreating across the bathroom.
Evander’s back struck the vanity unit.
Viggo placed his hands atop the marble surface on either side of him and crowded him in, effectively trapping him.
Evander panted as he stared into the Brute’s stormy eyes, his heart racing and his stomach quivering at the incandescent attraction sparking the air between them.
“Don’t run away from me,” Viggo said gruffly. His scorching gaze roamed Evander’s face before locking on his mouth. “I want to kiss you.” He leaned down and brought his lips to Evander’s ear. “May I, Evander? Kiss you?”
Evander shuddered at the titillating sensation.
Viggo straightened and stared hotly in his eyes, waiting for his answer.
Evander watched him dazedly.
He felt as if he were standing on a knife’s edge, ready to fall on a blade not of his making.
On one side of the precipice was his comfortable if somewhat unconventional life, his career, his position as a noble, and his status as an Archmage.
On the other was the unpredictable future he could see in Viggo’s gaze.
A future riddled with obstacles and turmoil, where they would both have to make choices they might one day regret. But also one where they could discover something few people ever would in their entire lifetime.
A love that would endure forever more.
A connection between souls that could not be broken, even by death itself.
A shiver raced through Evander.
This is absurd. We barely know one another!
Yet he could not look away from Viggo. Nor could he deny that he very much wanted to see the future the Brute’s eyes promised.
Evander was conscious the choice he was about to make would change his entire existence. He could sense it in the air. Taste it on Viggo’s hot breath where it tickled his face. See it in the depths of his passionate stare.
He could either push Viggo away, thereby denying what the Brute’s ardent expression hinted at. Or he could take the first step towards their uncertain destiny.
Viggo stilled when Evander lifted a hesitant hand to his cheek. He shuddered at Evander’s caress before grasping his fingers and pressing a featherlight kiss to his palm.
“Are you sure?” The Brute’s voice shook a little.
Evander knew the question wasn’t just about this moment. He nodded tremulously. Then Viggo’s hands were on his face and he was crushing their mouths together and the whole world faded around Evander.
The Brute’s lips were hot and firm as he explored Evander’s trembling flesh, his hooded gaze locked on Evander’s eyes. He moulded their mouths together and sucked and gently bit Evander’s lips for a timeless moment before sweeping his way inside. Evander trembled as their tongues met and began a heady mating dance.
He gasped when Viggo grabbed his waist and lifted him up onto the vanity unit. The Brute parted his knees and crowded the cradle of his thighs, his hands dancing up and down his legs as he worked them inside the bathrobe.
Evander’s breath hitched at the first touch of Viggo’s fingers on his manhood. He couldn’t help but moan when the Brute closed his hand around his twitching shaft and began stroking him. Viggo undid the belt of the bathrobe and parted the lapels, exposing Evander and his own wicked ministrations.
