“You’re not the average kids,” she reminds us. “I’ve pulled a few different properties that may work for what you’re looking for. All of them will need renovations though.”
“We expected that,” I say. “Good marketing will get people there, the first step is a space where we can create something unique.”
“Alright then,” she says. “Here are the options. Go through and tell me which ones you’d like to see.”
The three of us take different properties with their specs and begin to peruse them.
I immediately hate everything that I see.
Some of my options have too much foot traffic, while others are in very old buildings that are going to need too much maintenance.
Constant broken pipes or backed up toilets isn’t something I want to deal with.
“I like these,” Theo says, handing three options back to Terry.
“This is the one I like from my pile,” Elijah murmurs.
“I got all duds,” I sigh. “When can we see them?”
“Now,” she says, standing. “I set up standing appointments with all of them. I have the lock box codes on my phone to show you around. Let’s go.”
See? No bullshit, no waiting around. I like her.
Terry leads us out to her SUV, where we sit in the backseat while Theo begins to set up our LLC as she drives. Apparently, it’s as easy as filling out some forms online.
“We just need a name,” Theo says under his breath.
We’ve always been the Kings, but that name feels tainted now for many reasons.
Thinking, I blow out a breath. I don’t want this place connected to them at all.
It doesn’t mean that the Kings Society won’t still try to find a way to call in favors, but I’ll feel better knowing we’re starting this on our own two feet.
Fuck, I’m not against getting a couple of investors if we need to so the money is completely separate from our families as well.
Thinking, I nod to myself as I find something that may work. “What about Brothers Enterprise?” I ask.
We’re close enough to be, just not blood. Thank fuck for that, because it would be really awkward to have the kind of feelings that we do for our blood brothers.
“That could work,” Theo muses. “Elijah, what do you think?”
“I’m in if we add ‘broken’ to the front of it,” he says. “We’ve always picked up each other’s broken pieces.”
“Yes,” I agree. “Always will. Broken Brothers Enterprise it is.”
“You get shit done faster than most business men I know,” Terry mutters under her breath as she drives.
“This building is large enough to be able to have a separate section for the private activities you wanted. Well, two separate sections. You can have a front for the club if you want to go the entire speakeasy route.”
The private activities are sex related, and my lips twitch at her words. Not that I plan on having sex with anyone except the men in the back seat with me. I think my man whore days are behind me.
However, sex sells and I think a sex club as a secret section of the speakeasy will be something this area needs.
“Now, to decide what we want as the business before you can enter the speakeasy,” I say.
Terry has an NDA that keeps her from speaking about anything that she hears while she’s with us. It’s the best way to ensure our protection for our intellectual property and plans before they go into effect. It also protects our privacy. She was fine with signing it, and actually insisted on it.
“It would be fun to have a shop for candles or something before you come in. It could have later hours as well,” Elijah suggests. “Terry, is there a need for a late night mystical shop here?”
“I didn’t think you’d even know what that was,” she says with a startled laugh. “Are we talking tarot cards, candles, and such? If so, there aren’t any shops that stay open late like that in the area.”
“I’ll need to do some research on what to stock, and also put out feelers for someone to manage it because it’s not my area of expertise,” Theo says. “I do like that as our entrance. They’ll see the manager with the secret password, and off they’ll go.”
“May as well make it interesting,” I agree. “Alright, that’s definitely on the table, now to find a good space for it all.”
It takes seeing three locations before we finally find what we’re looking for in Montecito. It’ll give us a smaller space for the store, while all of the fun will happen behind it. There’s even a basement for the sex club.
“This is going to be epic once we get all of the permits in,” I say with a wide grin. “Can we get this inspected for structural integrity? We’ll secure the money for this.”
“I thought you were loaded?” Terry asks, confused as we walk back to the vehicle.
“We are, but bringing in some other players with skin in the game may help with pushing through our permits,” I explain.
Theo smirks, already looking up people in the area to pitch this to. It’s going to be a busy few days and weeks, but this is what we live for. Our connections to people through Carlysle Prep is outside of the Kings Society.
We can open our own fucking doors, thank you very much.
