When the hunt for a fabled relic reveals her future.
I may come from a wealthy family, but I’ve worked hard to become the youngest Collections Manager at The Met. My days are spent amongst antiquities that get my heart racing faster than my yoga sessions do. I’m basically Evie from The Mummy, but I specialize in pre-Columbian artifacts. Like, I live and breathe them.
So, when my weekly girl’s night is turned upside down from a ransom call, my safe little bubble explodes. Especially when I hear the kidnapper’s demands: they’ll let my father live if I find The Love Cuff, a fabled gold bracelet that once belonged to a 16th century Colombian chieftess.
The problem is, nobody knows if it exists. But if it does, I’m the only one who can find it.
When my roommate calls in a favor with her cousin, I have a team of five former Marines-turned-bodyguards at my house in less than six hours.
After the shock of the situation wears off, it’s not like I notice how handsome and likable the team is. Especially Dillon, aka Archer. Or how green his eyes are. Or the fact that he wears a thigh holster like a second skin.
I also don’t count on how helpful he is--how they all are--when they help me solve clues as we embark on international destinations I’ve only read about in my research books.
Dillon quickly becomes more than just an intelligent hired bodyguard. I don’t plan to have my heart race when I see him piloting a helicopter or shielding me from gunfire, and I certainly don’t expect the swell in my chest when he holds my hand in secret. And I’m not the only one, if our stolen moments that rival the heat of the South American jungle are any proof.
But with the clock ticking and danger around every corner, we must work together to find the impossible.
I only hope I can. Failing my father isn’t an option. But neither is gambling with my heart.
