Story: Perfect Three
G oing to the front door, she was surprised to see it was Jack alone.
“Hello, gorgeous. The boss-man got caught up at work, so I’ve come to spirit you off. I hope you won’t mind if we eat at the restaurant, as I’m not sure what time Seb will be free. There was a major problem with the liquor order, and he’s tearing his hair out trying to sort it out.”
“Sounds fine to me. Just let me get my bag.”
“Hang on before you go.”
Lucy stopped mid-stride, thinking something was wrong, but Jack entered the house and wrapped her in his strong arms. He kissed her, and Lucy felt like singing with joy.
His kiss was more demanding than it had been previously.
It was also filled with longing. It was strong and forceful, and she melted against him, allowing him to take whatever he wanted.
When they separated, she knew her face was bright red.
“Mm, that’s better. I’ve been thinking about your delicious mouth all the way here.”
Lucy wasn’t sure what to say, so she ran into the family room to pick up her bag from where she’d left it. When she returned, Jack looked at her as if he saw her for the first time.
“My God, Lucy, you’re gorgeous. Do you know you take my breath away?”
Now that was something she could very easily get used to—compliments. He held out his hand and she slid hers into it. Not sure how to answer, Lucy decided to say nothing.
After locking the front door, they walked out to the car and he settled her into the passenger seat. “I’ve missed you. We both have.”
Lucy turned her head to look at Jack.
He glanced at her and gave her a sweet, sexy smile.
“I’ve missed you both, too.” She cocked her head to one side. “It all seems so ... unreal.”
“I know.” He reached out and squeezed her hand. “I guess it’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride for you.”
“Kind of. I honestly never expected to see either one of you again after that night in the club.”
“Neither did we. I can’t tell you how upset we were. Seb sulked most of Sunday because we couldn’t find out any contact info for you, and he knew we were flying out early Monday morning.”
“Does he really sulk?”
He smirked. “Yeah, nah, not really. He just goes very quiet.” He gave her another glance.
“I love him dearly, you know. I honestly can’t imagine my life without him.
When he gets all quiet, I just want to wrap my arms around him and tell him it will all be fine, but I know he prefers to get past it by himself.
I sometimes think he’s afraid it will make him look weak to my eyes, which is impossible. Anyway, I just stay handy in case.”
“I guess after ten years you know each other pretty well.”
“Yep, but it’s never boring, never dull. We try keeping excitement in our lives, try keeping that first spark of love and lust alive.”
“How? I mean ten years is a long time. I couldn’t even keep it for a year when I was married.”
“Ten years is a while, but that’s where our little punishment thing works well.
The anticipation of what Seb will do, it’s bloody exciting.
Sometimes I’ve been a smart-arse on purpose.
” He winked at her. “I expect punishment and nothing happens. Sneaky Seb leaves it for a few days until I think he’s forgot then ‘wham’ he’ll get me.
” He risked another glance at Lucy. “It’s things like that that keep it exciting.
Oh, and he’s a great one for gifts, loves to buy things for me, so be warned. ”
“Warned? What do you mean?”
“Oh, Lucy. I know it’s early and we’ve only just started on this journey to learn about each other, but .
.. hell, I can’t explain it. There’s something so interesting about you, about how you are with us.
You’ve so easily accepted that Seb and I are together without judging.
I honestly hope this is the start of something, that you’ll like us both. ”
Lucy looked through the windscreen, trying to gather her thoughts. She felt Jack touch her hand again and glanced at him. He smiled so sweetly. How could she phrase this without seeming pushy? “So for you both this isn’t... I mean, you hope it’s long-term?”
He risked another glance. “Long-term? Yep. Look, Lucy, whenever there’s been a third with us, we’ve never gone into it thinking this is just for the weekend or a month or so.
Both of us hate the idea of a one-night stand or casual flings.
The fact that it hasn’t been long-term with anyone else is only because it just never worked for all concerned.
Neither of us likes some quick fuck with a stranger for laughs. ”
“I see.”
He squeezed her hand. “Did you think this was just some quick fling? That Seb and I like to have a little fun then walk away?”
Lucy looked down at her lap then out the front windscreen again. “To be honest, Jack, I wasn’t sure. Part of me vaguely thought it was mentioned the other day, but I guess I was overwhelmed with everything that happened.”
“I can understand that. Anyway, there’s no guarantees, Lucy, but we’d both like it to be the start of something good. What about you?”
How to explain what she felt when she wasn’t sure herself.
She knew how attracted she was to them both.
She also knew that she hoped this was something special that would last. She looked back at Jack, his strong hands on the wheel.
She had an overwhelming urge to put her hand on his shoulder, run her fingers across his neck and into his hair as he drove.
“Do you?”
Lucy nodded then spoke. “I can’t explain it, but I really want this to work, too.
It’s all so strange. I would never in my wildest dreams think about being in a relationship with two men.
” She was silent for a minute then shook her head.
“No, that’s wrong.” She confessed. “I have imagined it—a lot. I guess lots of people have thought about having threesomes. But still, it scares me on one level, yet on another it feels so right. Kind of hard to explain.”
Jack reached out and took her right hand, lifting it to his mouth, he kissed it.
She got chills from the touch of his lips on her fingers.
“It will work if we all want it to.”
