Story: Wrangled
“Teague… it’s okay.” I bit my lip. “Just… don’t do it tonight, all right? Unless the barns catch fire and the stables go up in smoke. And if that happens, just break out the hoses and put the fire out.”
He chuckled. “I get it. You don’t wanna be disturbed.”
I regarded him with amusement. “What are you grinning at?”
“Nothing.”
“Bullshit.”
He coughed. “Well, far be it from me to say ‘I told you so’ but… I fuckingtoldyou so.”
“Told me what?”
That shit-eating grin just didn’t quit. “That you’d like him.” He got up out of the rocker and sauntered past me, heading for the path, singing quietly “Some-body’s-gonna-get-lay-aid.”
Lord, I hoped so.
I couldn’t resist. “You’re just jealous,” I called out after him.
His laughter floated back to me. “Now why should I be that? I can get laid any night I want.”
I was still smiling when I walked through the door.
Matt was on the other side of it, wearing his jacket. “Hey, boss. Supper’s waiting for you in the dining room. I’ll see you in the morning.”
I blinked. “Good to see you too, Matt. Something I said?”
He grinned. “Have a good night.” He grabbed his hat from the hook by the door, and went outside.
It was official. Everyone on Salvation would know the boss was getting laid.
I removed my hat, hung it up, and headed for the dining room. Toby sat at the table, dressed in a black shirt, open at the neck. “Hello there.”
“Hello to you too.” He stood, and I caught sight of his tight jeans that did nothing to hide his erection. “I know whatIwant for supper,” I quipped.
He snorted. “Later. First, you’re going to eat. Don’t tell me how your afternoon went. Day’s over.”
“Thank God.”
He ambled over to me. “You’re mine tonight.”
I was dying to ask if he meantallnight. I’d gotten used to sleeping alone again, but that didn’t mean there weren’t nights when I’d wake up in the darkness and reach for the warm, firm body that was no longer there. I wasn’t about to ask Toby to stay. That felt… wrong.
He’s here to play.
I’d take what I could get.
Maybe my need showed on my face, because his hand cradled the back of my head, and his lips met mine in a lingering kiss that went a long way to relieving some of the tension in me.
I knew he’d relieve the rest of it after supper. Knew that with every fiber and cell in my body.
When he drew back, I glanced at the table. There was chicken Parmesan, green beans, and mashed potato. A jug of water sat in the middle of the table. “You want a beer?”
“No. I want a clear head. And when you’re done eating, you’re going to go upstairs and take a shower.”
I expelled a breath. “Yes, Sir.” I liked that he took control right off the bat.
His eyes glittered with approval. “Good. Let’s eat.”
